Round 3 ended with most of the J2 teams coming out on top. As always there was the odd exception of Kokushikan University, Tochigi SC and Matsumoto Yamaga all defeating Tokushima Vortis, Roasso Kumamoto and Shonan Bellmare respectively.
The round saw most of the non-J2 teams playing hard fought games and keeping respectable sorelines, although one of the suprises was Honda FC's 4-0 loss to Sagan Tosu.
In the J2 vs J2 game, Mito came out on top with an extra time 1-0 win over Avispa Fukuoka.
